AAA ANNOUNCES 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

Angelina Arts Alliance, celebrating its 20th year of presenting world-renowned performing arts in Lufkin, proudly announces its upcoming 2020-2021 Temple Theater Season of  Performing Arts, including its annual Performing Arts Series and Discovery Series. The season line-up contains a diverse range of performances, providing high-quality entertainment to the citizens of East Texas. With the season slated to begin in October 2020, most performances have confirmed dates. Due to the complications of Covid-19, touring artists are navigating their own upended performance schedules, and updates completing the Angelina Arts Alliance calendar will be made available to the public as soon as possible. Angelina Arts Alliance is also pleased to announce the return of its Discovery Series, a family-focused season of educational, fun and affordable entertainment.

Energy Assistance Available

The COVID-19 crisis is creating major financial concerns for many families in rural east Texas. Individuals may have their work hours reduced or be experiencing layoffs. Many are already living on a limited income. Families may qualify for energy assistance through federal LIHEAP funding. Assistance with electric or gas bills may occur multiple months depending on eligibility. The program targets elderly, disabled and the working poor.

JA Releases Free Financial Resource for Teens

Junior Achievement of Angelina County is releasing a free resource for teens titled Making Sense: Understanding the Financial Impact of COVID-19. The guide is designed to answer teens’ questions about the economic implications of COVID-19, including “Why are some store shelves empty?”, “Why are some people losing their jobs?” and “Are we going into a recession, or even a depression?” The guide is available at JA.org/MakingSense.
