Chamber Events & Programs
For over 100 years, the Chamber has existed in Angelina County to improve the business climate in Lufkin/Angelina County. The Chamber and its hundreds of volunteers strive to serve the membership through the stimulation of economic growth and trade, the education of the public in the role and purpose of business, the support of activities which enhance the area's quality of life and by serving as a catalyst for positive change in the community.
The Chamber offers volunteers numerous avenues to contribute to the community. With more than 19 Chamber committees, and 11 affiliated organizations, the Chamber strives to complete the Program of Work set forth annually by its Board of Directors. The Chamber is a proactive group of volunteers who take the initiative to improve the community, the business climate and the quality of life.
Annual Chamber Banquet
This annual event features a reception, year-in-review presentation, and dinner. The Angelina and Golden Anvil Awards are also presented during the banquet.
Lufkin/Angelina County Day Legislative Reception
Held annually, this event honors state officials, legislators, and agencies. In addition to the reception, briefings, meetings, and photo opportunities are available to attendees.
The Candidate Forum is a great way for the public to become educated about local political races and candidates. Candidates will be asked general questions as well as selected questions submitted by audience members. Candidates will be able to meet constituents and have display tables in the foyer for informational materials.
Annual Golf Tournament
Funds from the tournament benefit the Chamber of Commerce and its programs.
Angelina County Fair
This annual event allows Angelina County students to present their projects for competition in divisions of livestock, arts and crafts, home economics, and ag mechanics. The event culminates with the Annual Youth Fair Auction where students sell their projects to local businesses and supporters.
Annual Expo Anniversary Party
This Party is an annual event that raises funds necessary for the maintenance and upkeep of the Expo Center. The evening’s activities include a reception, gun raffle, bucket raffle, silent auction, live auction, and steak dinner.
Neches River Rendezvous
Held each summer, the Neches River Rendezvous is a scenic 10-mile trip down the Neches River. It’s a family-oriented canoe trip complete with shuttle service and a hamburger lunch.
Texas State Forest Festival
Held the fourth week in September, this festival features several events including the Southern Hushpuppy Championships, a master chainsaw sculptor, petting zoo, giant carnival, lumberjack show, concerts, specialty acts, and more.
Elected Officials Reception
The Elected Officials Reception is an appreciation reception for Angelina County's elected officials.
Salute to Healthcare Luncheon
The Salute to Healthcare Banquet is an annual banquet held to honor the health care industry in Lufkin and Angelina County. The banquet features a special guest speaker and awards are given to exceptional health care professionals in four categories.
First Friday Luncheon
This monthly event features a keynote speaker, incentive drawing, announcements, and lunch. Held on the first Friday of each month, the luncheon typically occurs at Crown Colony Country Club at Noon. Tickets to attend the event are $15.00 each.
Power Networking Breakfast
Held the fourth Friday monthly at 8 a.m. in the Chamber Community Room, this event features breakfast, door prizes, networking, and a guest speaker.
Cheers with the Chamber | Business After 5
The purpose of Cheers with the Chamber is to afford Chamber Investors the opportunity to enjoy networking in an informal atmosphere and allow Chamber Investors the opportunity for exposure to their business by hosting a Cheers with the Chamber event. The event is held monthly at various locations and typically features food, drinks, a short program, and door prizes.
The purpose of a Ribbon Cutting is to welcome new Investors to the Chamber or to celebrate a grand opening of a Chamber Business. Chamber Investors, staff, and Diplomats attend these events to welcome new members and to learn about their business.
The mission of the Women’s Networking Event is to connect women of all career levels, strengthen their professional networks, and engage them in the Lufkin/Angelina County business community. The Women’s Network will achieve this vision through offering prominent speaker programs, spotlight women leaders, and promote the positive impact women have made in the Lufkin/Angelina County Area.
Chamber Programs are part of the Chamber business plan and are designed to meet the current needs of our members. Programs change as the needs of our Investors change. Leadership Lufkin is a nine-month program designed to identify and educate the existing and potential leaders of Lufkin and Angelina County. It consists of day-long sessions targeted at orienting the class to particular aspects of the community, such as the health care, social services, local/county/state government, education, economic development, and quality of life in Angelina County. The program also includes classroom-style leadership skills training.
Leadership Tomorrow was developed for high school juniors and is hosted by the Chamber. The program mirrors the Leadership Lufkin program. Students in the program have the opportunity to learn about Angelina County firsthand and to explore opportunities that exist for their futures in this area.
Leadership Lufkin Alumni Association
In May of 2008, the Leadership Lufkin Alumni Association was established to provide opportunities for Leadership Lufkin graduates to support the local leadership programs (Leadership Lufkin and Leadership Tomorrow) in as many ways as possible. This includes overseeing the leadership programs, continuing leadership education for alumni through speakers on important issues, reconnecting with classmates, establishing networking and new friendships, providing scholarships, and giving back to the community by providing quality leaders.
The Diplomats are the Chamber's public relations arm and assist with the Chamber’s Annual Banquet, Ribbon Cuttings, Power Networking Breakfasts, and Business After Five. They also handle our New Member Showcase. The activities of the Diplomat program enable Chamber members to learn about business opportunities, networking, community education, economic development and legislative issues.
Leading Edge is a fellowship, empowering early to mid-career professionals for lifelong community engagement and leadership through service on nonprofit boards.
Chamber FIRST is a program of industry-exclusive professionals focused on building each other’s businesses by supplying genuine referrals within the Chamber membership. Built on trust and follow-up, Chamber FIRST attendees maximize their membership with professional education and resources, while encouraging mutual support and increasing sales.
